We were 7 youth from the Lêgerîn network to be present at the historical People’s Platform Europe. We had the opportunity to take part in the workshop on youth identity & resistance, the one on democratic media and also on War & Peace. All discussions were powerful and gave us lot of perspectives for a common and united struggle in Europe. How to win the heart and the mind of the peoples? How to develop new communal way of living and struggling as youth and young women? How to coordinate our work as media? How to fight against against the attacks of liberalism? How to resist a war that is being developed from the heart of Europe?
The People’s Platform as an all were beautiful days where organizations from all over Europe met to discuss and open common perspectives. Everyone joined 9 different workshops and discussions were held of many issues that we are facing in Europe. Afterward, the results of the discussions were shared in an assembly of 800 persons who came from every part of Europe. Concretes perspectives have been shared such as the development of a People’s Academy to develop common political education. In this frame a 1st international school of democratic media will be held in August 2025, to gather again the dozens of media collectives who joined the platform.
Delegates will now go in different part of Europe to share results of the platform and developing new contacts. A call has been made to held platforms in regional level. The goal has been clearly expressed: step by step the building of a new organization that can gather all forces who are struggling in Europe. In the same time the preparation for platform in other continents already started, a delegation from Abya Yala was present during these days to prepare the ground for a People’s Platform Abya Yala in the coming time.
We also had the luck to hear the words of Öcalan’s lawyer. The 15th of February marked the anniversary of the international conspiracy that imprisoned the people’s leader Abdullah Öcalan on Imrali island. The results of his resistance are living on through our successes. We must ensure his physical freedom in this crucial period through international actions!
The all week-end was animated by the sounds of dances, culture, different languages. Saturday evening, dozens of youth from all over Europe danced all together, reviving cultures that nation-state wanted to crush.
We can finish with some words from the People’s Platform declaration:
“ Capitalism has driven humanity to the edge of the abyss. Our survival is only possible through the defeat of capitalism and the construction of a different life and a different world. The conclusions we draw from the current situation show very clearly that we must come together and become an organized force in the shortest possible time.
This is a huge and historic responsibility that falls on everyone’s shoulders. As those struggling in the context of Europe, we also have a duty to dismantle the oppression, injustice and destruction caused by the European powers around the world.
Let us unite our struggles, perspectives and capacities and build the free life that the peoples of the world and all beings on our planet deserve!”
